For those of you unaware, this weekend is the 7th Annual Puppy bowl. You may not have heard of it because occasionally it gets shoved to the side by some other game that I hear is going on this weekend, but don’t be fooled: This is the real deal. There’s going to be drama, back-stories, hard work, chew-toy chewing and much, much more. It’s probably going to be the best thing since puppy bowl 6. If you’re curious, I’m pulling for Jack. How could you not like the fact that he’s a card dealer?
Apology to Readers: On Monday, I put up a guest post, as I’m sure some of you saw. Jessica over at momvesting was kind enough to put in the comments that the picture was missing. I originally figured there was some problem with the photo upload, but after I looked into it, I found there was no photo. Unfortunately, the author referenced a photo and didn’t include one with what I received - either way, I was beat when I read the post, and it slipped past me. Unfortunately, while I couldn’t do much to change it as it was already live, it’s my responsibility to make sure everything is where it should be, and I didn’t make that happen. I apologize, and it wont happen again.
Links of the Week:
Well Heeled Blog has a Great post on Donating to Charity. She posted an article a while back about how much she gave, and a reader pointed out that with her earnings, she could stand to give a lot more than she currently does. After looking at it, she’s decided to up her contributions to charity in 2011. Way to go WH.
Eric at Narrow Bridge has his 500th post go live – Congrats Eric. Keep up the good work.
Trent at The Simple Dollar had an interesting post on the “taco-bell” problem. Frankly, I’m not surprised to read this at all. Taco bell was the first fast food resturant slop-house that I stopped eating, way back when I was in high school. Something about their food just didnt sit right with me, and I decided not to eat it anymore. I also appreciate this post because he points out how much faith we (as consumers) have in the company that is producing what we are buying. I tend to be highly distrustful of just about everything (and everyone) until proven otherwise, and its things like this that reinforce that. It’s always better to do it yourself: You’ll know what’s in it and where all the stuff came from.
Ninja at Punch Debt in the Face is throwing down with Red because after his extensive interview, he concluded that she hates happiness!
Roshawn at Watson, Inc is talking about 15 year mortgages. No, they may not be for everyone, but I think they are a good idea, and if/when I start looking to buy a house, that is probably the longest term loan that I will consider. To me, it sounds like a no brainer, espically if you’re looking to have a family. Buy a home, start a family, then when the kids are in high school, the home is paid off (provided you don’t move).
Sandy at First Gen American Has some Tenant Stories. I’ve always wondered about being a landlord, and this is interesting to hear. Sometimes, I hear nothing but bad things, but I often wonder if that’s because it’s so automatic the rest of the time. Someone pays rent, you pay the mortgage and insurance, and then take whatever is left for yourself. That makes it sound easy, but dealing with people makes it sound difficult.
