Weekly Links: Vegas Edition

Tomorrow, I’ll be heading to Las Vegas for a friends bachelor party.  I’m excited for the trip, and am going to try hard to keep the reins in on my spending – I’ve never been, but I imagine stuff can get crazy expensive there.  I’ve talked to a few friends who have spent crazy amounts while there – more than double than I  am planning on taking, and got a few great tips, which I hope to follow (and share) when I get back.

Over at Memoirs of and Economic Student, the writer talks about the growing student loan debt problem. I’ve been aware of this for quite a while, but one large problem with student loan debt is that it is almost impossible to discharge, even in bankruptcy.  You basically have to die to get it forgiven.

Over at the Family CEO Blog, Julie has listed the best get out of debt stories she’s found on the web.  There are some great stories in here, and some great posts from yakezie network members.  I encourage you to check them out!

Evan at My Journey to Millions has a post on how retirement is going to change for future generations.  I’d have to say that I agree with this – the way things are now cant continue, and it will be up to no one but you to reconcile that with your goals in retirement.  You’ll need to reduce your debt and expenses and focus on making do with what you’ve got.

Over at Frugal Dad, there was a great post on battling his anti-frugal personality.  This post really resonated with me, due to the things that I shared on monday.  Sometimes, I just dont do frugal things – and I dont feel like I’ve got frugal fatigue, but it seems to be something else entirely.  I’m working on it, and like everyone, I’m a work in progress.

Even though I havent been linking to too many of the posts lately (shame on me!) the yakezie network is still going strong.  We are about to introduce our third class, and will open up the gamma class for aspiring members soon!  If you’re a lifestyle blogger or financial blogger of any stripe and are curious, shoot me an email if you’ve got questions or head over to the page to join!
